What does a Naturopath do?

A Naturopath is a health practitioner who treats disease and ill-health using natural methods such as herbal medicine and nutrition, and by treating the cause of the problem, not just the symptoms.

Kerrin will take a detailed case from you during your initial consultation, talking in detail about any health problems you have, even health issues you think may be unrelated – a naturopath may think otherwise as many health problems have the same cause, particularly nutrient deficiency signs and symptoms.

There are many tests Kerrin can send you for if she thinks this is necessary or if you would like to investigate your health further.  These include food sensitivity tests, hair mineral analysis, stool samples, salivary hormone tests, advanced lipid analysis, live blood analysis and many others.  Kerrin will also look at any tests you have already had including blood tests from you doctor.

Your diet will always be looked at and adjusted, even if it only needs tweeking.  Some people find it helpful to fill out a diet diary.  Kerrin may prescribe supplements and will usually make up herbal medicine for you.  Flower essences and homoeopathic remedies are also used.

Usually Kerrin will see clients monthly, although for acute conditions such as infections fortnightly appointments may be necessary.
